Charter Options
Apostle Islands – Lake Trout & Rainbow Trout
The Apostle Islands are a dream destination for anglers who love chasing lake trout and rainbow trout in one of the most scenic areas of Lake Superior. These islands, with their rugged beauty and crystal-clear waters, provide an incredible backdrop for a day of fishing. Lake trout dominate this fishery, with fish commonly ranging from 5 to 20 pounds, and the chance to hook into a trophy over 30 pounds keeps anglers coming back year after year. Rainbows, known for their acrobatic fights, add a thrilling challenge into the mix every now and then!
Seasonal Tips: In spring, trout are closer to shore and can be caught by jigging or trolling. As summer warms the waters, fish retreat to deeper areas, and trolling with downriggers becomes the go-to tactic.
Stannard Rock – Trophy Lake Trout
Known as “The Loneliest Place in North America,” Stannard Rock is a remote fishing hotspot located about 40 miles offshore. This unique fishery is renowned for producing trophy lake trout, with fish often exceeding 30 pounds. Anglers come here for the challenge of deep-water jigging and the reward of battling giant trout in pristine, rarely fished waters.
Seasonal Tips: Late spring through early fall is prime time to hit Stannard Rock. Jigging with heavy setups is the most effective way to reach these deep-dwelling giants, but trolling also yields results during the summer months.
Munising – Lake Trout & Salmon
Munising, Michigan offers a dynamic fishery for lake trout and salmon during the open water season. From May to August, anglers can target lake trout using jigging and trolling techniques, while coho and king salmon provide exciting surface action. This area also boasts beautiful views of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, adding to the adventure.
Seasonal Tips: Early in the season, trout and salmon are found closer to shore and in shallower water, making them accessible to a variety of techniques. As the season progresses, trolling deeper with spoons and flashers becomes key.
Isle Royale – Lake Trout & More
For those seeking a true adventure, Isle Royale offers an unforgettable fishing experience. The remote wilderness of this national park creates a pristine environment for lake trout, which are the main draw, along with occasional salmon and rainbow trout. Trophy lake trout, often over 20 pounds, are a highlight of this fishery.
Seasonal Tips: The best fishing runs from late spring through summer. Early in the season, jigging and trolling near rocky shoals are effective. As summer progresses, deep-water trolling becomes the most reliable tactic.
“Brandon was spot on from the moment we launched the boat! He was very much in communication of exactly how I wanted my trip to go and listened to the extra sightseeing I wanted to include in my trip! His professionalism and knowledge of Lake Superior was superb! We caught a beastly King Salmon and our limit of trout in a short amount of time!“
