Guided Ice Fishing Trips On Lake Superior & Northern WI Lakes

Winter transforms Northern Wisconsin and Lake Superior into an angler’s playground, offering incredible ice fishing for panfish on inland lakes, trophy lake trout offshore, and multi-species action nearshore. With stunning scenery and abundant opportunities, ice fishing in this region has something to offer every angler.

Charter Options

Northern Wisconsin Inland Lakes – Panfish

For a fun and relaxing ice fishing experience, Northern Wisconsin’s inland lakes are perfect for targeting panfish like bluegill, crappie, and perch. These lakes freeze early, providing safe and accessible fishing opportunities for anglers of all skill levels. Fish average 8 to 12 inches, with the chance to catch larger slabs. These ice fishing charters are usually action-packed, and whether you’re trying to learn to better utilize your equipment or you’re looking to get your kids out on the ice, everyone’s going to have a great time. Plus – these panfish are delicious!

Seasonal Tips: Early ice (December) is ideal for panfish in shallow weed beds, while mid-winter (January-February) calls for moving deeper with small jigs and live bait.

Lake Superior Offshore Lake Trout

Offshore ice fishing on Lake Superior is an adventure like no other, offering the chance to catch trophy lake trout in a remote and rugged environment. These deep-water giants often exceed 20 pounds, providing a thrilling challenge for seasoned anglers. These ice fishing trips targeting big lake trout are exclusively jigging. We’ve found this to be the most effective technique for locating and engaging with the big ones!

Seasonal Tips: The season typically runs from January to March, with jigging heavy lures like tube jigs or bucktail jigs being the most effective tactic. Mobility and good ice conditions are key to success.

Lake Superior Nearshore

Nearshore ice fishing on Lake Superior is perfect for anglers who enjoy variety. With species like brown trout, splake, coho salmon, burbot, whitefish, and lake trout all in the mix, every trip is different. Fish sizes vary, with browns and splake commonly hitting the 10-pound mark, and burbot and lake trout growing even larger.

Seasonal Tips: Tip-ups baited with smelt or shiners are great for targeting trout, while jigging spoons and soft plastics entice coho and whitefish. Early mornings and evenings often bring the most bites.

Brandon is top notch! His knowledge of what he’s doing is second to none and his enthusiasm tops that! From his snowmobiles down to his rigs and setups all of his gear is maintained meticulously and is top of the line and cutting edge. He’s not your typical guide, he went above and beyond to put our group on fish and make sure all needs were met.
